Experience in field and studio environments, extensive editing of sound tracks and final mixing for release. Sound engineering experience for teleconferencing. Field setups for live surgical demonstrations. Forensic: Processing of inaudible recordings to enhance intelligibility. Familiar with FBI practices for analysis of evidence recordings.

FALL 1986-JULY 1994-- MIT MEDIA LABORATORY--Video Facilities Management. Designed and implemented installations of research and production facilities. Interfaced new technologies with the old. Provided expertise and equipment to support researchers in Interactive Cinema Group. Worked closely with grad students and undergraduates, teaching techniques of operation. Produced and edited videos demonstrating research achievements within the Laboratory.

1983-1986 SELF EMPLOYED
--Engineering of projects included two Andrea Doria films, a visit to the wreck, and later, an internationally syndicated live television show about the retrieval and opening of the bank safe salvaged from the shipwrecked ocean liner. Both were produced by the late Peter Gimbel and Elga Anderson. Another production, done on film for Digital Equipment Corporation, utilized three synchronized projectors, featured 3-channel 35mm sound, taking the viewer on board fast sailboats during the America's Cup Trials at Newport.

1970-1983 SALES AND SERVICES--Owned and operated Stuart Cody, Inc.--a sales, rental, and service facility for New England Producers. A sound studio was completed in 1972, and became an immediate success. Occupying 6000 sq. ft. we employed 12 people, with gross sales of $600K in 1977. Unfortunately, a gas explosion destroyed sound studio and edit facilities at the close of 1977. This, coupled with an industry-wide shift to video production, encouraged my decision to cease operations in 1983.

1968-1971 FREELANCED
as location sound recordist. Low budget features, industrials, commercials, public television programs including Nova and Discovery. Engineered innovative motion picture technology for Blue Water, White Death, an underwater film about diver/producer Peter Gimbel's search for the great white shark, and the ultimate encounter with these creatures. The film was released theatrically in 35mm Cinemascope.

1964-1968 CARPENTER CENTER FOR THE VISUAL ARTS, HARVARD UNIVERSITY
--As Facilities Engineer, I operated and maintained a motion picture production facility that included film animation, editing and sound mixing studios. I worked closely with students, providing guidance in the making of individual student and class productions. As engineer and sound recordist, I traveled overseas for location ethnographic film projects, recorded dialog and music, edited sound and mixed the final tracks in the studio.

1960-1964 US NAVY--Weapons Systems Technician. Served in several carrier-based fighter squadrons. Service schools provided extensive electronics training.
